The Fremantle Dockers confirmed Nat Fyfe's shoulder injury is not quite as serious as first feared.
The club released a statement on Wednesday night saying scans revelaed Fyfe had strained the AC joint in his right shoulder.
The 23-year-old was ruled out of Saturday's International Rules Test against Ireland at Subiaco Oval on Saturday after injuring his shoulder while diving for a mark in the last few minutes of a practice match in Western Sydney on Tuesday.
He flew to Perth with the Australian team on Tuesday night for scans, but the club expects Fyfe to be back soon.
"Fremantle medical staff are awaiting further assessment of the scans by a specialist but initial indications are that the injury will not have a significant impact on the 23-year-old's preseason campaign," a Dockers statement said.
