Melbourne Victory will meet Sydney FC in the A-League grand final on May 17.
The Victory were imperious against rival Melbourne City in a 3-0 semi-final win, while Sydney FC brushed Adelaide United aside 4-1 at the SFS. Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold insists his team is the best in the A-League in terms of form, despite Melbourne Victory winning the Premiers Plate.
Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold has insisted the Sky Blues are the best team in the A-League heading into a mouth-watering grand final against arch-rivals Melbourne Victory.
The Sky Blues enter the May 17 decider in red-hot form after hammering Adelaide United 4-1 in the second semi-final, a day after the Victory belted Melbourne City 3-0.
The grand finalists are both chasing a third championship in a repeat of the 2010 grand final. Five years ago Sydney FC came out on top and Arnold is confident his side is headed for another triumph. Victory finished the regular season three points clear of the Sky Blues to claim the Premier's Plate. But since the resumption of the league in January after the Asian Cup break Sydney has shown a slight edge. Both sides have proven to have incredibly potent attacking stocks but while Victory have scored more goals overall, Sydney FC has found the back of the net 41 times to Melbourne's 34 strikes and have claimed five more points in the 16 games since January. With Sydney yet to be beaten on the road, Arnold believes they have nothing to fear.
