Lleyton Hewitt to replace Nick Kyrgios in Australian Davis Cup

Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt is coming out of retirement to play one more tie for Australia in this week's match against the United States at Kooyong, replacing Nick Kyrgios.

The Australian Davis Cup team confirmed on Twitter on Thursday morning that the team had changed nominations to allow Hewitt to replace Kyrgios.

Davis Cup captain is usually a non-playing position, but Kyrgios has been battling illness and a back injury.
The draw for the Australia - United States tie will be made later on Thursday at Kooyong.

Kyrgios was examined by team medical staff this morning after a short workout but could not be considered for two best-of-five set matches against world No 11 John Isner and Jack Sock.
The team changes will be confirmed at this morning’s draw.
Hewitt, who turned 35 last week, replaces Kyrgios in the four-player team but his role remains uncertain.
The former world No 1 retired as a player after a second-round loss at the Australian Open to Spain’s David Ferrer.
