THE Swans are hot with TAB punters. Nearly all the money this week has been for them to defeat cross town rival Greater Western Sydney.
Geelong has also been well backed while a few punters think the Eagles are a good chance to win the premiership.
North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs are friendless in the market.
Find out where the money is going for the first week of finals?
Nearly all the money has been for the Swans to defeat the Giants with 83% of customers backing Sydney.
“The Swans have been rock solid in betting at $1.45 since the market opened with GWS easing slightly from $2.75 to $2.85,” said TAB’s Nick Quinn.
Punters have sided with Geelong in betting for this Qualifying Final with 77% of the money for them so far.
“Hawthorn have been unconvincing of late and punters have a long memory with the Cats’ victory, led by a rampaging Paddy Dangerfield, in round one still fresh,” Quinn said.
West Coast for the 2016 Premiership ($15)
The Eagles looked out of the premiership market a week ago at $26 but are now into $15 after last Friday’s ultra-impressive victory
“The Eagles knocked off three top-four teams in a row to finish the season — it’s been 100 years since any team has done that — and at $1.25 against the Dogs next week, there’s a lot of momentum for them at the moment,” Quinn said.
North Melbourne ($4.80)
18% of TAB customers think North Melbourne can turn around their lengthy form slump.
“Punters have been off the Kangaroos for a while now and this game looks no different with their price moving from $4.60 to $4.80,” Quinn said.
Western Bulldogs ($4.15)
Just 5% of the money has been for the Dogs following their uninspiring loss to Fremantle on Sunday.
“The Dogs opened at $3.55 but have been on the drift ever since, with West Coast looking hard to beat at $1.30,” Quinn said.
Adelaide for the 2016 Premiership ($11)
The Crows were $3.50 before their loss to West Coast last Friday night.
“Punters can’t see Adelaide winning the Premiership now that they will have to travel to Sydney in the semi-final before two trips to Melbourne,” Quinn said.
Almost impossible to see Adelaide and West Coast not winning, throw in Winx and you have a $1.87 winner.
The last time Sydney played GWS they lost by 42 points and are way under the odds at $1.45, have something on the young Giants.
