A League round 5 : Sydney FC maintained their perfect start to the season

Sydney FC maintained their perfect start to the season while wins to both Melbourne sides saw them climb to 2nd and 3rd. Meanwhile, Wellington are yet to register a point with Adelaide just above them. The Reds will need to replicate last season feat if they are to defend their title but The Wolf cannot see it happening.

Brisbane v Melbourne City – (Fri 7:50pm)
The Roar have recovered from a slow start but this week they must deal with a red hot City who posted yet another win – this time with Tim Cahill on the sidelines. He is expected to return for this one and will give City’s high powered offence yet another boost. City have won 4 of their last 6 against Brisbane and have been playing the better football. Fornaroli continues to find the back of the net for fun and any side that has the likes of Caceres coming off the bench is a force to be reckoned with. City to put the pressure on Sydney FC for top spot.
Best Bet: Melbourne City WIN ($2.35)
Value Bet: Team Total Melbourne City Over 2.5 goals ($4.20)
Wellington v Newcastle – (Sat 5:35pm)The Jets unbeaten run came to an end against the league leaders but it has been more than a promising start to their season. The same cannot be said about Wellington whose season seems to be all but over before it has started. They are dead last on the ladder, are yet to register a point and are coming off a 6-1 thumping from the Victory. To make things worse they have had a short turn around that as always involves significant travel. If that wasn’t bad enough they have lost their last 3 meetings against the Jets. How they are $2 for the win is beyond all belief! A slow start for The Nix is about to get very, very, dark!
Best Bet: Double Chance Draw or Newcastle Jets ($1.75)
Value Bet: Newcvastle WIN ($3.30)
Sydney FC v Melbourne Victory – (Sat 7:50pm)The A-League needs to be commended for their early season scheduling. It’s been nothing but derby after derby and this week we get the Big Blue. Sydney FC maintained their perfect record and are yet to concede a goal this season while the Victory found their feet against the Phoenix. The Wolf though is a firm believer that the 6-1 win over Wellington has disguised what has been a inconsistent start to the season. City posted two very dominant wins over them and they got out of jail against Adelaide. In addition, 4 of the 6 goals came after Wellington were relegated to 10 men. The Victory may be undefeated in their last 6 against the Sky Blues (3 wins, 3 draws) but on form and at home, Sydney will be hard to beat. There have been 6 goals in 3 of the last 6 matches so expect a typical Big Blue derby – hell for leather action for 90+ minutes. Sydney in a thriller.
Best Bet: Sydney FC WIN ($1.88)
Value Bet: Over 3.5 goals ($2.60)
Adelaide v Central Coast – (Sun 5:00pm)
Three straight losses for Adelaide (all by a 2-1 scoreline) has the defending champs at the wrong end of the ladder. It could have been a different story if they had not conceded in injury time in multiple games but that is a clear sign that they are not where they need to be. Fellow cellar dwellers the Central Coast have shown plenty of fight over the last fortnight but they lack the creativity necessary going forward and will suffer all season long as a result. Adelaide have won the last 4 meetings but both teams have found the back of the net in each of them with an average of 4.5 goals per game. With perfect conditions predicted this one could turn into the most entertaining match of the round.
Best Bet: Both Teams To Score – YES ($1.57)
Value Bet: Over 5.5 goals ($7.00)
Perth v Western Sydney – (Sun 7:00pm)
Tony Popovic must be reading The Wolf’s previews. Wolfy called out Kerem Bulut for his slow start to the season and Popovic responded last week by dropping his star striker. Santalab was promoted to the starting line up and delivered with a goal in the opening minutes but it wasn’t enough in a draw against then Mariners. The loss of Topor Stanley is taking its toll and they are yet to maintain a clean sheet this season. They now take on a Perth side that has no trouble finding the back of the net. The Wolf likes what he has seen with Castro, Marinkovic and Keogh. They will run riot on a flat Wanderers outfit.
Best Bet: Perth WIN ($2.00)
Value Bet: Team Total Perth Over 2.5 ($3.60)

Best Bets Round 5

Best Bet: Perth WIN ($2.00)
Best Value Bet: Sydney FC v Melb Victory – Over 3.5 goals ($2.60)
