Valdano: Nothing Bale does is worth €100 million

Gareth Bale came in for some criticism in the wake of the Madrid derby from ex-Real Madrid striker Jorge Valdano.
That was in spite of the fact that it was the Welshman who provided the assist for Cristiano Ronaldo's goal in the 1-1 draw from a deep left wing cross.
While Valdano reserved praise for the Portugal international, he was less enthusiastic about Bale's display.
"Nothing that Bale does is worth 100 million euros and he has only the number he wears on his shirt," he told El Transistor.
"Ronaldo looked great physically though and was playing for the whole attack, he is clearly in a moment of great confidence.
"His duel with [Lionel] Messi isn't lacking anything. It is Madrid v Barcelona, Europe v America, a battle between geniuses."
Valdano also had some kind words for Atletico goalscorer Antoine Griezmann, who he believes could be a steal in the transfer market if he departed this summer.
"Griezmann is the best striker, a good midfielder and also contributes a lot defensively," he added.
"Judging by the market, he is a cheap player."
