Ross Lyon rules out recruiting Brendon Goddard to Fremantle Dockers

Ross Lyon has ruled out the possibility of recruiting his former defender Brendon Goddard to Fremantle next season.
Essendon this week confirmed 33-year-old Goddard would not be part of the club’s plans for next season, with the two-time All-Australian yet to decide whether he will look to play on at a new team.
But speaking this afternoon, Lyon said the Dockers would not seek to lure Goddard west.
“He’s been one of the special players in my coaching tenure,” Lyon said.
“But (signing him) is not the journey we’re on.”
Goddard was a key figure in Lyon’s five seasons coaching the Saints, which included grand final appearances in 2009 and 2010.
Lyon also shot down rumours that Brad Hill wants to leave the club, saying he would be shocked if that was the case.
Hill won three premierships at Hawthorn before crossing to Fremantle at the end of 2016.
The 25-year-old is contracted with Fremantle for another season, and Lyon doesn't expect Hill to go anywhere else.
