Fremantle coach Ross Lyon’s approval rating plummets

Fremantle fans’ confidence in coach Ross Lyon has plummeted over the past year, according to a survey by AFL Media.
The league’s website today released the results of a poll which asked fans to rate their club’s coachand give the side a rating for the 2018 season.
While West Coast’s Adam Simpson netted a 99 per cent approval rating on the back of his club’s premiership, Lyon finished second last in the rankings, with only 37 per cent on Dockers fans getting behind the coach who led the club to a decider in 2013.
St Kilda’s Alan Richardson was the only coach with a worse approval rating than Lyon, at 29 per cent.
The result continues a steady decline in Lyon’s stocks over the past 12 months, when he still had the backing of 71 per cent of supporters.
Lyon has won the backing of club administrators and captain Nat Fyfe in the face of heavy criticism this season.
He remains contracted through to the end of the 2020 season after winning a long-term extension at the beginning of 2016, having just led Fremantle to a minor premiership the previous season.
