Former Gold Coast Suns ruckman Keegan Brooksby bound for West Coast

West Coast is set to further bolster their ruck division by adding former Gold Coast ruckman Keegan Brooksby to their list next month.
Brooksby, who played 14 games for the Suns from 2015 to 2017, will join the Eagles under the AFL’s rookie rules, which now mean ex-players need not be re-drafted.
The league this morning confirmed Brooksby had withdrawn his draft nomination, along with Maverick Weller and Corey Wagner. Ex-Saint Weller is bound for Richmond, while Ex-Kangaroo Wagner is heading to Melbourne.
198cm Brooksby is coming off an impressive season in the SANFL for South Adelaide, where he finished second in the club’s best and fairest award.
Eagles list manager Brady Rawlings said the club had closely monitored Brooksby's progress at SANFL level throughout the year.
“Keegan is a physical ruckman who competes strongly around the ground,” Rawlings said.

“He adds more depth to our ruck department after the departure of Scott Lycett and the delayed start to the season for Nic Naitanui.”
South Adelaide chief executive Neill Sharpe said it was exciting to see Brooksby “get another chance to prove himself at the highest level”.
“He is an outstanding player and his form over the last season speaks for itself,” Sharpe said.
“He certainly deserves this opportunity and we wish him well in the next phase of his AFL career.”
Brooksby can officially join the Eagles from next Saturday.
Former Dockers ruckman Zac Clarke is set to head to Essendon under the same rookie rule.
The prospective addition of Brooksby comes a day after fellow West Coast ruck recruit Tom Hickey impressed in his first training session at the club.
