Tom Mitchell suffers broken leg at Hawthorn training, likely to miss entire 2019 season

Hawthorn’s Brownlow Medal winner Tom Mitchell is likely to miss the entire 2019 season after breaking his leg in a training mishap.
The incident occurred during a training drill at Waverley Park, during the Hawks’ first session for the year.
Mitchell was taken from the ground in an ambulance and escorted to hospital.
The Hawks confirmed the broken leg fears later in the day.
“For Tom to suffer an injury like this is incredibly disappointing for both him and our footy club,” football manager Graham Wright said.
“He will undergo surgery over the weekend and as a result will most likely miss the 2019 season.
“However, Tom is a very resilient young man and we have no doubt that he will tackle his rehab with the same professionalism and diligence with which he approaches his training.”
Mitchell has played 76 consecutive AFL games, including all 24 for the Hawks last year as he starred en route to a maiden Brownlow win.
