La Liga Betting: Sevilla will win, but Sociedad could be denied

Dan Fitch is backing Sevilla to claim three points, but thinks Real Sociedad may falter again, as he previews Tuesday's La Liga matches...

Underdogs in better form

Real Sociedad finally got back to winning ways in midweek and will be looking to build on that when they travel to Levante on Monday.
When the season resumed Real Sociedad were in fourth position in La Liga, which would bring Champions League qualification. They failed to win any of their first five matches (D1 L4) and slid down the league fast.
Their 2-1 win over rock bottom Espanyol on Thursday, ended this abysmal run, even if it was still not entirely convincing. Sociedad had to come back from a goal down and Alexander Isak's winner was only scored with six minutes remaining.
When results are going as badly as they were for Sociedad, you take whatever you can get. Now seventh and seven points behind fourth placed Sevilla with five games to go, Champions League qualification seems unlikely, but finding some form remains important.
Sociedad are through to the final of the Copa del Rey against Athletic Bilbao. At the moment there is no fixed date for that match to take place, as the clubs fight for the right to wait until fans can be in the stadium, but there is every chance that it will be played before that point.
Yet as much as Sociedad will want to build some momentum, Levante are no pushovers. Post-lockdown they have only lost once in six games - to in-form Atletico Madrid (W2 D3) - and having moved up to twelfth in the table, could easily finish in the top half of La Liga.
Real Sociedad may have more quality, but based on current form the value lies with the hosts. Levante are 1.72 in the Double Chance market.

Sevilla can keep another clean sheet

Sevilla 1.49 v Eibar 8.60; The Draw 4.60

Like Real Sociedad, Sevilla have seen their grasp on a Champions League qualifying place weaken since the season resumed.
Third at the point of lockdown, Sevilla are now fourth, with fifth placed Villarreal in the sort of form to make them nervous. Sevilla are actually unbeaten since La Liga came back, but have drawn too many games (P6 W2 D4).
On Tuesday, Julen Lopetegui's team ended a run of four consecutive draws with a 3-0 win at Leganes. With Villarreal facing a tough match against Barcelona on Sunday, this is an opportunity for Sevilla to extend a lead that stands at three points at the time of writing.
Eibar are also in need of points though. Their 2-0 loss at home to Osasuna in midweek leaves them six points clear of the relegation zone. They had previously been in good form, without a defeat in four (W2 D2), all against top half sides.
That run of form and Eibar's situation, suggests that Sevilla are too short, even if they are worthy favourites. Backing Sevilla to win to nil boosts the price to 2.20, with the hosts keeping clean sheets in two of their last three home matches.
